The philosopher, logician, mathematician, chemist, physicist, and lexicographer Charles Sanders Peirce is generally regarded as the most profound and original philosopher born in the United States. Unfortunately, much of his most significant work remained unpublished and largely ignored during the twentieth century. But more recent research on his logic and semeiotic is providing important insights into some of the thorniest problems of science, philosophy, logic, and language.
